SA Political Cartooning Maestro's and CCIBA Nurture New Talent

The CCIBA recently organised a political cartooning workshop at the Iziko South African National Gallery Annexe. Renowned political satitirist Jonathan Shapiro (Zapiro) was one of the speakers. The workshop was organised by cartoonist and historian Andy Mason, whose job it is to identify and select potential cartoonists in South Africa to work with a mentor. The hands-on interactive workshop involved new artisits  working with Cape Town’s top cartoonists, and a unique in-depth look at the world of political cartooning (facilitated by Andy Mason and Kathy Coates). Guest speakers included cartoonists Zapiro (Sunday Times, The Times, Mail& Guardian), Jeremy Nell (The Times, The Biggish Five), Brandan Reynolds, (Business Day, Weekend Argus, Rapport)), Chip Snad don (Cape Argus), John Curtis (Africartoons), Stacey Stent (Noseweek), and Gavin Thomson and Dave Gomersall (Trek Net).
